Should you let AI write your website?

AI can write a website extremely quickly. This is both its attraction and its danger.

Give it five bullet points and it will produce a homepage. Ask for a warmer tone and it will become warmer. Ask for something more premium and the words “crafted”, “elevated” and “timeless” will probably arrive shortly afterwards.

The result may be perfectly grammatical. It may also say almost nothing.

AI improves language more easily than it improves truth

If a company starts with vague input such as “We are an innovative solutions provider delivering quality and excellence across industries”, AI can make the sentence smoother. It still cannot know what the company actually makes, why customers choose it or which claims are supported by evidence.

The source material is empty. The output will be polished emptiness.

Start with ugly truth

Good website copy often begins with information that does not sound remotely like copy.

“We distribute leak-test equipment in India and provide local technical support.”

“We redesign brands and websites for businesses that have outgrown how they currently present themselves.”

These statements are useful because they are specific.

Once the truth is clear, AI can help shape it: shorten this, remove repetition, generate headline options that retain the meaning, rewrite this for someone outside the category, or identify where the same claim has been repeated.

Where the human needs to intervene

Website copy is full of decisions disguised as sentences.

Which service appears first? Which customer do we speak to? What proof should sit beside the claim? What belongs on the homepage and what belongs deeper in the site?

These are strategic decisions. The words come afterwards.

Use AI as an editor, not an alibi

If AI helps someone articulate what they already know, good. If it helps a founder organise years of knowledge into a useful FAQ, good. If it helps a designer turn a rambling service description into a cleaner page structure, good.

But the business still has to recognise itself in the final copy.

The best website copy should sound like the clearest version of the company — not like generic machine-written copy.

So yes, use AI to write your website. Just do not ask it to decide what your business stands for while it is there.
